Painting Flowers With Palette Knife and Brush

In this blog post I am sharing a timelapse video of painting first February flowers with palette knife and brush. If you have any experience in painting in acrylics or oil, or have never painted before but would like to try - you may use this video as a starting point and try to paint a similar floral painting by yourself.

I am posting my videos at Vimeo - because it let me upoad in high resolution. On the contrary YouTube recently has decreased the quality of uploaded videos to an unacceptable low lavel.

So, For the best experience, install the free Vimeo app: or you may already have it installed or just press the above button and watch it in your browser..

In February we already have first snowdrops available at the local market. I adore spring flowers!

This time I just couldn’t help doing a quick sketch of such a spring beauty…

If you would like to try and create a similar floral painting - that's what you need:

  1. Canvas board or cardbord to paint on (I have used unstratched primed canvas)

  2. Acrylic or Oil paints (up to your choice)

  3. 1 Pallet knife, 1 small flat synthetic brush

I have started not with white but with a grey background, because I already had that grey& red big book set up as a background behind the flowers.

That is what I’ve got at the end.

This painting is now framed and available in my shop.

“February Flowers”, Oil on canvas. Available.

Original painting by Oxana Logvinova, 2020.
